DIALux evo 13 brings flexibility to space planning

Space planning is a crucial step in lighting design, where areas of use and maintenance methods are defined and daylight is calculated. The new version of DIALux evo 13 greatly simplifies and optimises this process. When creating a new room, a full room area is created as standard, making the design process more efficient from the start.

Benefits for 2D design and IFC models

Another highlight of DIALux evo 13 is the seamless integration of IFC models. If the design is based on an IFC model, DIALux takes the areas directly one-to-one from this model. If rooms are defined by drawing a 2D plan (DWG/DXF), this is also done automatically. Closing each room contour creates a room-filling area, minimising the need for manual intervention. This automation saves time and reduces potential sources of error.

Spaces can now be freely created

DIALux also offers the option of creating spaces at any time using the "Spaces" tool. For example, if no spaces are identified in an IFC, these can be added individually. These spaces are an important tool for defining specific planning cases. While spaces are initially created automatically for rooms, they can be adapted and changed at any time to meet individual requirements.

A particularly practical feature is the ability to create areas across floors. There is no limit to the number of floors, so areas can be created in stairwells. You create the area on the bottom floor and extend it up through the floors, allowing for consistent design.

You can also change, scale and delete polygonal areas at a later date. This flexibility is particularly valuable when you need to react quickly to changes in the design. Another advantage is that areas no longer need to be nested. From DIALux evo 13, areas can touch each other like zones without the need for nesting. This opens up new possibilities in room design and planning.

Working with areas in DIALux evo will also bring many other advantages, which we will present to you in the coming weeks before the release.
